Here's the story...

What a crazy start to the holiday season! On Monday the 1st of December Dave passed out at work and landed himself in the Cardiac ICU for 5 days and then spent another 3 days in the hospital. A few weeks prior he had been feeling his "heart beat" and had been getting a little dizzy. He went to the doctor the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and was set to get some blood work done Monday. Then on Monday, he passed out at his desk and a coworker thankfully found him and called 911. While in the ICU he went into cardiac arrest around 40 times in a 24 hour period and his heart had to be "shocked" back into a normal rhythm. His heart was going into PVC (Premature Ventricular Contractions) induced Ventricular Fibrillation. He had a procedure done on Tuesday called Cardiac Ablation where they went into his heart through an artery in his groin and found the areas that were causing the abnormal rhythm to occur and ablated (basically cauterized) those areas. Then on Monday (12/8) the Doctor put in an internal defibrillator. We are hoping that this arrhythmia will never happen again, but the defibrillator will help save his life should it ever happen. Apparently this condition is very rare for a young person with no history of heart problems and with an otherwise healthy body. He is now home and doing very well other than being a little sore from the last procedure.

Isabelle was such a trooper through it all. She was truly Dave's inspiration to get better and she was what helped me through some of the incredibly tough times those first few days. She could not have been a better baby. We are so thankful for all the well wishes, prayers, visits, phone calls and support over the last week. A thank you just doesn't seem like enough.

An Isabelle update:
She began rolling from her front to back on Friday after Thanksgiving.

She got her first haircut (Thanks Auntie!) Here is an "after" picture. You can't tell by her facial expression, but she really does like it.

She is beginning to get her 1st tooth.

We just went to her 4 month appointment and she is now 26 inches long (95th %ile) and 18 lbs. (100th %ile). Here is daddy holding our little "Chunky Monkey"
Here are Isabelle and Jenna in their matching dresses.
Isabelle and Grandpa Hunn kicking back after a big turkey dinner.

We are looking forward to a relaxing Christmas season. This one will be especially great, not only is it Isabelle's first Christmas, but we have a healthy daddy as well!

New toys and a visit with friends

We had a great visit a couple weekends ago with Kristina, her daughter Sarah who is 7 months and her mom Sue. They came up from San Jose, and Sue came down from Paradise. We hung out all day and Isabelle got to meet her good friend Sarah. It was a great day and we are so greatful that they were able to come to visit and hope that we can do it again soon!

We have been trying out some toys we recieved for shower gifts, like the Jumperoo and the Bumbo chair. She is still a little bit too small as she is kind of slumped over in them, but we still had fun for a short time.

Her favorite toys, and probably more age appropriate, still remain the swing and the jungle floor mat. Here is Daddy and Isabelle in the grass. We thought that she wouldn't like the feeling of the grass, but she didn't mind it at all.

Update

Isabelle went in today for her 2 month appointment. She had to get her first shots, which was very sad for mommy to watch. Thankfully daddy could take time off work and hold her. She is developing right on track and meeting all her milestones. She now weighs 13 lbs. 8 oz. (95th %ile) and is 23 3/4 inches (90th %ile). She is smiling and cooing more and is getting to be a very attentive listener. We have been working on "tummy time" but as you can see by the double "flip off" in the picture below, Isabelle doesn't really like it too much. She loves bath time! She is all smiles and now kicks her legs and sometimes splashes mommy. We tried to give her hair some curls, but when it dried it just looked like crazy hair. This is her post-bath confused look.
The best thing about all this hair is that I get to put little clips in it. I have now figured out how to do it without making her cry. This is definatley better for us both.

Here are a couple of pictures of Isabelle and our new friend Paige. The girls bond (or sleep is probably more accurate) while the mommies go for walks. They are 2 1/2 weeks apart.

Some new pictures

Some cute new pictures of Isabelle. She is getting to be such a big girl. She is starting to smile more and is now looking at us instead of through us. She has moved from her cradle to her crib, which was probably harder for me than it was for her. This has been a good move as she has started to sleep longer stretches at night. Dave and I are having so much fun and love every moment with her. We can't believe that everything she does is soooo cute!!!
Just watching a little TV

Trip to Monterey

We went to Monterey for our friends wedding last Saturday. We had a great time introducing Isabelle and catching up with some college friends. On Sunday we went down to the pier and unfortunatley had the world's worst clam chowder. Good clam chowder should be required if you have a restaurant on the water. Thankfully it was a beautiful day and we were able to see some sea lions. On the way home we stopped by my grandma Arden's house. This was her first time meeting Isabelle. We had a great visit.

Isabelle is getting so big. She now weighs 11 lbs. Her little cheeks are getting so chubby and she is getting little lots of little rolls. More close up pictures to come.

I am not sure why this picture is sideways, but these sea lions were sitting on the rocks just below the peir. There were so many sea lions, so close you could almost touch them.
Grandma Arden with Isabelle

As a little added bonus...before I left my job, a client gave me a gift certificate for a photographer. She came to our house when Isabelle was 2 days old and then again at three weeks. If you would like to see some Isabelle's pictures, here is a link to her blog. http://www.sidleystudios.blogspot.com/

Our pictures are under the title "Changing Fast." Within that post there is a link to the first set of pictures under the title "Pure Joy." It is amazing how fast they change.

Happy Birthday Mom (grandma)!!

Dave, Isabelle and I went up to my parents house for the long labor day weekend to celebrate my mom's birthday. We had a great weekend visiting with Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie, Luis, Uncle Eric and cousins Tyler and Jenna.Jenna and I have "George Washington" hair. A silly hairdo Heather and I created when we were kids that Jenna now thinks is really cool.
Tyler and Jenna love holding their new cousin and love to give her lots of kisses.
Grandma (Tyler and Jenna) blowing out the birthday candles.
Hanging out by the pool

Isabelle took her first dip in the pool. Well, just her feet.

It was a great weekend and we can't wait to see them all again.

Here's to you mom

I decided to create this blog for my mom. She wanted to see more pictures of her new granddaughter and she also didn't like being the only one from the camping group that didn't have a blog for a grandchild. So, this is for you mom! I can't promise lots of writting or really frequent posts, but I think I can handle adding a few pictures of our new family every once in awhile. Here are a few pictures of our beautiful daughter from her first moments to 3 1/2 weeks old.

Our first family photo
mom and Heather in labor and delivery. They had come down for the weekend "just in case" I went into labor. Isabelle came right on time. So they were there to see it all.
What is she dreaming about?

Look at the rolls...will she be Michelin baby #2?
