What a crazy start to the holiday season! On Monday the 1st of December Dave passed out at work and landed himself in the Cardiac ICU for 5 days and then spent another 3 days in the hospital. A few weeks prior he had been feeling his "heart beat" and had been getting a little dizzy. He went to the doctor the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and was set to get some blood work done Monday. Then on Monday, he passed out at his desk and a coworker thankfully found him and called 911. While in the ICU he went into cardiac arrest around 40 times in a 24 hour period and his heart had to be "shocked" back into a normal rhythm. His heart was going into PVC (Premature Ventricular Contractions) induced Ventricular Fibrillation. He had a procedure done on Tuesday called Cardiac Ablation where they went into his heart through an artery in his groin and found the areas that were causing the abnormal rhythm to occur and ablated (basically cauterized) those areas. Then on Monday (12/8) the Doctor put in an internal defibrillator. We are hoping that this arrhythmia will never happen again, but the defibrillator will help save his life should it ever happen. Apparently this condition is very rare for a young person with no history of heart problems and with an otherwise healthy body. He is now home and doing very well other than being a little sore from the last procedure.
Isabelle was such a trooper through it all. She was truly Dave's inspiration to get better and she was what helped me through some of the incredibly tough times those first few days. She could not have been a better baby. We are so thankful for all the well wishes, prayers, visits, phone calls and support over the last week. A thank you just doesn't seem like enough.
An Isabelle update:
She began rolling from her front to back on Friday after Thanksgiving.
She got her first haircut (Thanks Auntie!) Here is an "after" picture. You can't tell by her facial expression, but she really does like it.
She is beginning to get her 1st tooth.
We just went to her 4 month appointment and she is now 26 inches long (95th %ile) and 18 lbs. (100th %ile). Here is daddy holding our little "Chunky Monkey"
Here are Isabelle and Jenna in their matching dresses. Isabelle and Grandpa Hunn kicking back after a big turkey dinner.
We are looking forward to a relaxing Christmas season. This one will be especially great, not only is it Isabelle's first Christmas, but we have a healthy daddy as well!
